rb25 box needs reseal

ok i dont think it will be that hard but the gasket or gasket goo is weeping out my expensive redline oil in my 25box. it is leaking where the bell housing joins to the back of the box where they bolt together.

what i would like to know is if it is difficult to pull the back off and fit it up once new goo is on? who has done it? do all the gears and forks and detents stay where they are or will i have to touch them?

also is there supposed to be a gasket between the housings or any o rings or is it just nissan gasket goo

can the gearbox stay bolted up to the engine? or just pull her out and do it?

thanks heaps guys ive been putting of doing this job for quite some time now

WTB/Try on, then buy - Bride FG Rails for S13/14/15

Hi all!
Wanting to try a Bride FG Rail in my car to see if it will successfully mount a standard sized Velo GP-90 seat.
Japanese Import Spares has a new one, but he won't let me trial fit it
and before I shell out cash I need to make sure it'll work as I want it to.

So anyone who has one, either in the car or not, who can give me a little of their time?
And wants to sell or not? Doesn't matter. That'd be awesome!

Hi guys,

Got this car a few months ago as a project, was looking to turn it into a daily / drifter for when I got my license back.

Anyone who knows the car can tell you, that it is rather immac.

I only just put rego on the car today, so you have 1 year ready to go.

Unfortunately though, I have to sell up.
The car is what I would call immaculate, or very close too.
The paint is beautiful, the only blenishes are a tiny mark on the rear bar that may buff out, and a small dint on the passenger door, maybe 5mm.

The photos were taken after I pulled it out of the garage for the first time since I got it, it hasnt been washed in a long time, so forgive the dust

The car will recieve a full detail before sale.

Leaking Internet Usage

I am with Optus and am on the 20GB a month plan (anything over that incurs a $0.15/mb fee). Last month my usage went over 20GB - which is very strange. I am not 6 days into the (new) month and have already used 45% of my monthly allowance (close to 10GB). Every other month i have been fine - well under.

At approx. 8:45PM tonight, via the Optus website i checked my usage, which was as follows:

As at 8:45PM
(9181 MB)
D = 229.44
U = 74.75

Then, i checked it again at 9:30PM:

As at 9:30PM
(9186 MB)
D = 232.42
U = 76.84

I have used approx. 5MB doing nothing, all that i had open was MSN and Firefox (Firefox was just open, not viewing pages - i had left the computer).

I have checked my network status and it is reporting a constant:
SENT: 8,XXX,XXX
RECEIVED: 8,XXX,XXX

I have attached a picture. I'd like to know, what other peoples SENT/RECEIVED are when nothing internet related is really being used?
Do i have a program running in the background making use of the internet?!

Any help is appreciated.

S15 heater hoses

If the heater hoses in the engine(ones above the turbo area) develop a leak, will that cause all the coolant to leak out and overheat the car, or will it just leak out all the coolant from the heater core.

If I don't have heater set to hot that is.

Reason I ask is that I have a ces dump pipe which is causing the 02 sensor to rub against one of the hoses, it has rubbed through the aluminium heatshield of the hose, not sure if it's causing any damage to the hose it self ,as it's hard to see..

It seems to move a little when the engine is revved. And overtime I am worried it will cause a leak from the rubbing. It seems to be fine for the last few years, dump pipe has been on for 2+ years. There is no point changing the hose as it will cause the same issues, due to location of the 02 sensor on the CES dump pipe. Car is an s15.

If anyone had similar issues your feedback is appreciated.

S15 ready for some power

Hi all,

I know this is like my second post on this site but I've been a busy lately with work, working away etc. Now I'm free to start thinking about my car. Anyway, I've just recently had a 3" turbo back system put on my ADM s15 and it has always had the pod (which is probably soaking a bit of heat right now). So I had it on the dyno for a power run to make sure the graphs looked good. A/F ratios arn't perfect but fairly good and it pulled 139kw@ the wheels. I was speaking to the tuners and they have suggested FMIC with a better CAI with the pod positioned down under the headlight. Now i'm keeping the stock turbo, not laying down too much money at that this stage. Their going to use a unichip piggyback and will tune it to run at 15 pound. All up $3200 and that includes custom tig welded cooler piping. Can any1 see any flaws in this simple setup. Don't flame me if I missed something obvious, figured you guys would know best.

Cheers

Post Processing or Camera + Lighting

Hi peoples

Firstly I apologise for my complete lack of photographic knowledge, but I'm hoping you can point me in the right direction.

Ok so theres a particular style of photo I have seen quite a bit lately, and I'm wondering what is required to achieve this effect. I have photoshop and a semi-decent camera but very little experience. I wondering if the effect is all in the post processing in photoshop or whether some fancy camera techniques are required?

Heres some samples to highlight the effect im after. I suppose you could describe it as enhanced reflections and gloss.

Any help appreciated.

Mods I can do on the cheap?

I read dr. drift welded up his own rear strut brace on his sil80 and a castor rod brace... I am unsure of the benefit of a welded castor rod brace (and it's purpose??) as I am slowly understanding what makes a car drift nice...

What I'm wondering is how hard it would be to do these things, if anyone else has done it, how successful they were and if anyone knows of any other things I can do that will give me more slide and/pr more control?

Car is an S13 silvia...

Oh and any links for a "how to" would be good too.
Thanks...

CHASER!

Desciption:
Hey guys its time for me to put my chaser up for sale, i have had this car for a little over a 2 years now and i cant fault it, it is the perfect mix of sport's and luxury with toyotas incredible build quality to back it up.
It's a 1997 factory manual dark mica green pearl looks awesome when the light hits it, i have never had a single problem with this car since the day i have bought it every thing works and is in just as good nik as when it came out the factory, this car is my pride and joy and i want it to go to a good owner.

Specs:
1997 factory manual 1JZ VVT-I single turbo,
has Tein HR driving master coilovers no leaks!!! in great condition, car handles like a dream with just bout zero body roll the coil overs are well suited to the car, comes with Rays volk SE37 wheels 17x7.5+45 all round very very light wheels! it is just bout fully factory optioned with toyota TRD Torsen LSD which is pretty much an open wheeler at low speeds when not under hard acceleration but becomes just bout a locker when the car hits boost very good item, full toyota half lips which i bought personally for the car Factory toyota UV protective screen in rear window rare!, Factory toyota air purifier which eliminates any odors in the cabin and fragrances the air the only chaser i have seen with this option! factory 7inch subwoofer in rear parcel shelf with standard factory amp under front passenger seat powering all 4 speakers and 2 tweeters for crystal clear sound quality,
Factory toyota Weather guards, factory HID lights with manual level in car (most get HID's ripped out in compliance so is rare that it still has the factory ones!) remote central locking with remote boot hatch release.
the interior on the car is immaculate no cigaret burns or any thing it is spotless just like new not even sides of seats are compressed also has NO dash lift!!! No ware on steering wheel or shifter all like new!!!

Details:
I have had the car for just over two years with not a problem, recently i have over hauled the brakes machined all rotors, new brake pads, re grease slide pins and bleed the whole system brakes A1 all done under 1000km ago.
Just had new diff oil, gearbox oil engine oil/filter denso iridium duel electrode (genuine toyota item) spark plugs put in under 1000km ago.
Turbo taken off new oil seals put in re balanced and re built at ATS, turbo is good as new also got told that the blades were in like new condition and that it was the best looking turbo he had ever seen off an import,
have receipts for this.
Brand new clutch fitted under 1000km ago
70% front tread 60%rear.
The car is almost standard mechanically besides coil overs which are there to enhance an all ready bullet proof car and wheels for performance and looks, the car has never been boosted or miss treated i service it every 5,000 with only high quality synthetic oils. This car will not disappoint the fussiest of buyers!

S15 with 192,000 mms - Should I rebuild with only $6k

Hi,

I have a 2001 Nissan s15 sr20DET and it's been a great car, but I've managed to clock up 192,000 kms on it and now it needs some work…

It's never been modified (not even the exhaust), but now there all sorts of noises from the engine (tapping noise when idling and a crunching noise when you start it up), the clutch is slipping a bit and the front suspension is bleeding (which I think is causing a bit of play in the steering). So overall it needs some work..

So I was wondering if anyone had any advice on whether I should let it go or if I should reinvest to get it performing again. I had a read around but it dosn't look like many of the S15s have these sort of kms - from what I have read I will probably need to replace the turbo and radiator but I'm not sure? My budget is about $6,000 so even if I sold it I wouldn't be able to buy anything good.

If I were to rebuild the engine, fix the suspension and clutch, would $6,000 cover it? Is there anything in the engine that will definitely need replacing with this sort of mileage/problems? Keen to get a bit more horsepower out of it if I'm replacing things and going to keep it. Should I buy parts online to try and save money or is that a bit of a waste of time – I had a look around and prices seem to vary a fair bit.

Any suggestions, around parts, who would be good in Brisbane etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
